    A Greater Manchester town, Bury (/ˈbɛri/, locally also /ˈbʊri/) is on the Irwell River southwest of Rochdale by (9.5 km) 5.9 miles, (12.7 km) 7.9 miles to Manchester's northwest, and (8.9 km) 5.5 miles east of Bolton.
